The follow-up appointment didn’t go the way I wanted, but I did like my substitute OB more than my actual one. She had more compassion than my OB, and she knew how to calm a sobbing (VERY) pregnant woman at her office.

Birthday Bestie
That time when your baby was *almost* born on your best friend’s birthday.
38 Weeks, Pt. 3
I didn’t know what preeclampsia or eclampsia was until I watched Downton Abbey. One of the audience favorite characters, Lady Sybil, dies from eclampsia shortly after giving birth to her child. Preeclampsia/eclampsia is a very serious pregnancy condition that can jeopardize the mother’s and/or baby’s lives. Gestational hypertension (high blood pressure while pregnant) is one possible indicator that can lead to preeclampsia which was why I was sent to L&D triage in the first place.
It may have been the suddenness of going to triage or the stress but I didn’t consider any of this when I was given the wristband. All I kept thinking was how inconvenient it was to wear this wristband long-term. It may have been my subconscious distracting me from the actual precariousness of my situation.
Here’s what my wristband looked like if you’re curious…and it was indeed waterproof!
38 Weeks, Pt. 2
After that initial appointment, my OB sent me to Labor & Delivery (which I’m used to calling L & D as my mom is an L & D nurse) triage to monitor my high blood pressure. There was a lot of self-reflection while waiting 2 hours as they monitored my and my baby’s heart.
38 Weeks, Part 1
It started out like any other Thursday. I went to my weekly OB appointment with 2 weeks left until my due date. My appointment was early in the morning before work, so it wouldn’t interrupt my workday as I wanted to wrap things up before my maternity leave. Little did I know things were about to get REAL fast.
Best Room in the House
We never really cared about interior design, nice furniture, and matching materials…until the baby came along.
Quick heads up: there will be no new comic next week! I hope everyone has a great holiday!
How To Tuck in The Wife
I was so uncomfortable in those last few weeks before the baby was born that wrapping me in soft things before bed became a necessity.
36 Weeks
Once you hit 36 weeks of pregnancy, you meet with your obstetrician weekly, and the countdown begins.
Checklist
The pressure was on with 4 weeks to go before the expected due date of our baby.
Heads up: there will be no comic next week because of Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday, everyone!
The Yogurt Thief
Eating other coworkers’ food from the company fridge is a faux pas, but is it excusable when you’re pregnant? 😳
