While we were in the Philippines, we took the ferry for a day trip to Bohol. I continued to be blown away by how considerate services in the Philippines were towards pregnant women and others who would need physical assistance. My mom joked that we were a “power couple”, and I completely agreed with all the lines we skipped!
Christmas is my favorite holiday, so celebrating this holiday in the Philippines was a real treat. The decorations, the energy, and the food are unmatched….and you can’t go wrong with the tropical weather.
Like everyone’s pregnancy journey, food cravings vary wildly. I was eating and drinking fruit related foods by the bucket loads. Little did I know, these eating habits will drastically change when I return from my trip… *HEAVY FORESHADOWING*.
In 2018, my husband and I planned our last international trip before the baby. My husband has never been to Asia, so we joined my mom to visit her side of the family in the Philippines for Christmas. The last time I went to the Philippines was close to 10 years ago, so I was excited to see my relatives again, especially since some of my cousins have married and had children since then. I couldn’t wait to meet the new family members and maybe get some baby tips along the way!
I was always amazed at how much those maternity pants can stretch. A lot of them have a long spandex band attached to the opening of the pants to aid in extra support as your belly grew bigger, but before that happens, the spandex fabric just bunches up and gets in the way.

It took over 30 years but I finally discovered my fashion tribe.
As my belly got bigger, my shirt options became limited. Who would’ve thought the swag shirts I’d get from my high school part-time job at Babbage’s would serve a greater purpose years down the road?
I wore these pants so much I put a hole in them. RIP maternity pants.
As someone who hates wearing dresses, loves sleeping in, and enjoys a good meal, there was a silver lining to being pregnant.
