I’m an animator by trade, so I appreciated the animation movie block that played during my labor. And yes, the anesthesiologist was quoting “The Goonies” as he administered my epidural. He did a good job, though, so I can’t complain.
Pushing was like running intervals: when there was a contraction coming, you did high intensity pushing, then rest when the contraction subsided. High intensity for a minute or two, rest for 30 seconds or so. Rinse repeat for almost 4 hrs. in my case. There were definitely thoughts during this physically demanding time.
I pushed for 3 hrs and 50 min. and yet I was the last one to see my son. 🥲
I pushed for almost 4 hours, and then, it happened so quickly. I finally met the small stranger I was tethered to for 38 weeks. Quick update: I will be on hiatus for the summer. I have some pretty exciting news soon (related to this comic), so definitely watch this space. Thank you for reading!
